WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000: Product Review
Most wines reach their peak after maturing. In order to prevent the wine from turning bad, proper wine storage must be done. Many people are unaware that proper wine storage has a significant impact on how well wine ages. In addition, some debate over the best temperature and humidity for wine storage. Humidity, temperature, and light are all important factors – therefore, having a wine cellar cooling unit installed in your wine room is vital.
A wine cellar cooling unit will keep a consistent temperature of 55°F and help regulate relative humidity when installed in a properly insulated room. So, it’s very crucial to choose a high quality cooling unit that performs excellently and lasts for a long time.
If you’re looking for a system that will maintain a steady temperature, perhaps the WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 might be the perfect wine cellar cooler for you. Do you want to learn more about this product? Let’s move on to the WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 review!
How Do Wine Cellar Cooling Units Work?
A wine cellar cooling unit works in the same way that a standard air conditioner does. Unlike a standard air conditioner, wine cellar cooling systems make the air colder by removing excess water. To put it another way, cold air is pushed into the wine room while heat is exhausted out. Since it’s a must to maintain a certain level of humidity in the wine cellar, a wine cellar cooling unit eliminates less water during the process.
A wine cellar cooling unit consists of two parts: the cooling system, also known as the “evaporator” and the “condensing” unit. In a WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 unit, which is a self-contained system, these two components are housed together. One end of the system or the evaporator blows cool air into the cellar or cabinet, and the other end has a condenser, which exhausts heat from the cellar into an adjacent room or an area next to the cellar.
The WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit
The WhisperKOOL SC PRO Series incorporates the latest and greatest system design innovations into a brand-new housing design. Each SC PRO unit includes a range of high-end components, which were developed based on direct feedback from customers and installers. The WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 is perfect when it comes to efficiently cool small to mid-sized wine cellars as it combines powerful airflow with quiet operation technology.
The SC PRO 4000 is a self-contained wine cellar cooling system – also known as the “through the wall” system. Self-contained wine cooling units are the most cost-effective and simple to install because they do not require any ductwork. They're built to fit between the studs of an existing wall and don't require a professional HVAC technician to install them. One end delivers cool air into the cellar or cabinet, and the other blows heat out of the cellar into a nearby room or area.
What separates the original SC Series from the SC PRO Series?
The WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 is equipped with revolutionary blower fan technology that improves performance while reducing noise levels dramatically. There’s also the reintroduction of the condensate management system, which effectively evaporates water up to 3oz in an hour. The drain line is seen as a precautionary measure rather than a mandatory need as a result of this condensate management system.
In fact, the SC PRO Series is the direct successor to the SC Series, which was preceded by the XLT series, one of the most well-known wine cooling units.
The direct replacement of the WhisperKOOL XLT 4200 is the WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000. Here’s a quick comparison between the 2 wine cooling units.

As you can see from the image above, the WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000 offers more advanced features compared to the XLT 4200 unit. If you want to learn more about the XLT 4200, here's a detailed article about it: All About the WhisperKOOL XLT 4200 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit
Features of WhisperKOOL SC PRO 4000
DIGITAL CONTROLLER

The SC PRO 4000 comes with a thermostat that is located in front of the unit. It is equipped with Advanced System Protection, which uses alarms to notify you if certain parameters are not reached.
BOTTLE PROBE
A Liquid Temperature Probe is included in the unit, which allows it to accurately measure the temperature of the wine in the cellar. Measuring the temperature of a liquid is a precise and accurate reflection of the temperature of the wines stored in the cellar compared to monitoring the wine cellar’s ambient air temperature.
CENTRIFUGAL BLOWER
In addition, the new SC PRO has a redesigned fan system that provides direct and robust airflow. This centrifugal blower system offers a more quiet operation and is designed to efficiently distribute the conditioned air evenly around the room.
CONDENSATE EVAPORATOR
A new and improved condensate management system has been introduced to the unit, which can successfully evaporate up to 3 ounces of condensate per hour of operation. The drain line is seen as an additional safeguard rather than a mandatory need under this management system.
POWER SUPPLY
The SC PRO 4000 unit can be powered from either the front or the back, whichever works best for you. A standard electrical outlet is used to power the unit.
