A Wine Guardian system drains either by gravity or by pump, and Wine Guardian decides that by configuration rather than by cellar size. Its ceiling systems arrive with a pump already fitted; its ducted cabinets are published as gravity drains, with a pump added only when the site cannot give the drain line the fall it needs.
For the ceiling and wine wall systems, Wine Guardian states plainly that "Wine Guardian ceiling systems come equipped with a condensate pump system," and instructs the installer to "connect the drain line to the barbed fitting at the unit and run the drain line to the nearest drain location." A fan coil mounted above a finished ceiling has no useful fall available from its condensate drip pan, so on these systems the pump is part of the machine rather than an accessory. That is why 94H0046-00 is published as a field replacement for those four systems and for no others.
The ducted cabinets are the other case. Wine Guardian publishes an aluminum drain pan directly below the coil, a condensate drain connection of 0.50 inches inside diameter, and a drain line requirement to "install with a one-quarter inch per linear foot of pitch." It adds that "if draining into a nearby sink, the unit must be elevated higher than the rim of the sink in order for the water to drain by gravity," and that "the drain line must extend from the unit to an external open floor drain or condensate pump." On a ducted cabinet the pump is described as an option: "an optional Wine Guardian automatic condensate pump is available to pump the water to a sink or outside."
The buying implication is a narrow one. A ducted or ducted split owner whose only drain point sits above the unit, or too far away to hold that pitch, does need a pump, but Wine Guardian does not publish 94H0046-00 for a ducted cabinet. Do not order this kit for a ducted system on the assumption that one pump serves every configuration. Confirm the correct pump for a ducted cabinet with Wine Guardian's parts department and against official Wine Guardian documentation.
